The Payne Family Native American Center – University of Montana

Missoula, Montana

Designed to integrate the heritage of the past into the present and future, this building was the first in the nation to accommodate both a Department of Native American Studies and an American Indian Student Services office. The unique facility consists of classrooms, meeting areas and community spaces. Even though this project was located at the heart of the campus with highly controlled access, this project maintained an aggressive schedule throughout the academic school year. The outcome of the project’s LEED Platinum requirements exceeded the expectations of owners, faculty, and students.
