Safety isn't always about doing the popular thing.
Did you know that the standard for today’s construction hard hats has remained unchanged since 1965? While a hard hat is the construction worker’s main source of sex appeal, they really do very little to offer protection to the front, rear, and sides.
In 2021, we switched to a helmet style head protection for our crew. We got some pushback: the helmets looks different, there’s a goofy chin strap, they’re more expensive, practically no one else in our industry is wearing them, and did we mention they look different?
Here’s why:
- We all want to go home safely.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is part of the job.
- Safety isn’t always about doing the easy or popular thing.
Bottom line is that we want each of our crew members to go home every night. And if adding a chin strap increases that likelihood, sign us up.
