Project Summary
Jackson was awarded the contract for the Native American Study Center (NASC)in November 2008. The NASC is approximately 30,000 SF new Study Center located centrally on the University of Montana campus. The project is pursuing a LEED Silver certification which would be the first of its kind on campus. Jackson is the General Contractor on the project working with the State of MT Architectural & Engineering Division, Glenn & Glenn Architects as the Design Architect and A&E Architects, PC in Billings, MT as the Architect of Record. The NASC is a 2-story with full basement, structural steel framed building with a Structural Insulated Panel core and Cast Stone facade. The exterior structure is a twelve-sided dodecagon, which represents the twelve tribes of Montana. Seven Native gardens will be placed throughout the site, representing each of the reservations in the State. Due to the LEED classification the building materials and construction processes will reduce the environmental impacts. Construction is scheduled to be complete by Jan. 2010.
